Wanderlust Mountain Stay

Friends and family gathered at the mountain peak, our place of hiding.

Everyone setting up their corner of nature, building a temporary community for the days ahead.

Surrounded by the many green tones of the trees and the smoking haze from the fire, a beer in hand we were merry. How nice it was to be enclosed by this beauty for the weekend.

The kids were wildly entertained. Building cubby houses out of natures best, keeping out the bush trolls and letting garden fairies stay.

It was rather amazing and somewhat delightful not to see an iPad or iPhone, instead dirt, sticks and leaves filled their tiny little hands building stories and memories to last.

I can still feel the warmth of the fire hitting the front of my body, needing to turn constantly to heat my back. I can smell the food cooking on the campfire, I can hear the crackling of the wood. The milky way shone bright with a sweeping view of the twinkling stars capturing our gaze while we sip our beverages and eat our smokey cooked food.

Our place of refuge for the night soon looked irresistible, warm and cosey, we all dwindled off to rest our eyes and re-energise as we had big plans for the morning.

Rays from the sun soon hit the windows of our cars & tents, warming the air to encourage everyone to get up.

Myself and Pete (My husband) wander off to find a little ledge to sit on and take in the wonderful views of the mountains, our legs dangle off the rock, a feeling of fear that my ugg boot will fall, drop over the edge - never to be found again.

A small group gather our walking gear and head off to explore the mountain, we know there is a small water fall at the bottom of the mountain as we can hear a slight trickling of water below. Jumping and falling over the rocky path we made our way down the creek.

Trying to take in all the breathtaking views was a task as you need to keep looking at the ground finding that place to plant your feet, step after step.

We found our way to our water destination. A rocky waterfall just for us!! Knowing this little place is untouched by the majority of man kind gives you a strange feeling of amazement, you can’t help but be still, soaking up all the beauty, this spot was ours for the day.

We made our way back up the hill, regathered and said our goodbyes, It was sad to leave but it was time to have a shower!

Thanks for a wonderfull weekend.
